From our official State Crustacean, the lobster, to our official State Berry, the wild blueberry, to our official State Treat, the whoopie pie, and everything in between, Maine has no shortage of iconic snacks to choose from. Even our official State Soft drink, Moxie, is important to our identity. Long story short, Mainers take their food seriously.

But what does it mean to be a 'least trusted' restaurant?

According to an article by the retail news publication Chain Store Age, which discussed survey results detailing 'the most trusted brand(s) in America,' 78% of respondents consider brand trustworthiness 'very important.'

Factors that contribute to brand trustworthiness include delivering on promises, asking for honest reviews and feedback, pricing transparency, and having an easy-to-use website.

In that survey, Pizza Hut was rated as the most trustworthy restaurant brand, followed by KFC and McDonald’s.

But what about the other side of the coin? Who is the 'least trusted' restaurant in the country?

Again, according to this survey, surprisingly, Panera Bread was ranked as the 'least trustworthy' restaurant.
