KeyBank will close its Millinocket  branch on May 6.

The bank will consolidate with its office on West Broadway in Lincoln. Three people work at the Millinocket branch and reportedly will get first consideration for job openings at other branches.

At 15.7 percent, Millinocket has one of the highest unemployment rates in the state. The shutdown will leave Millinocket with just a Bangor Savings Bank branch at 96 Central St. and a Katahdin Federal Credit Union at 1000 Central Street.

The reason for the closure was increasing online and mobile banking by customers.
