Officials with Katahdin Trust Company presented the County Dialysis Center (CDC) in Presque Isle with a $25,000 donation Wednesday, July 6th to officially launch the CDC fundraising campaign.

The CDC was founded in 1997 and today is the only kidney dialysis center in Aroostook County and the only not-for-profit center in Maine.  The CDC serves more than fifty patients, who, three times a week, need lifesaving treatments.  Each treatment lasts, on average, four hours.The Dialysis Center is in critical need of upgrades.

Officials also issue the “Katahdin Challenge”.  Katahdin Trust Company’s $25,000 donation and the “Katahdin Challenge” seeks to help The Aroostook Medical Center complete a nearly year-long campaign to raise $750,000 to upgrade the dialysis facility and equipment that allows patients from County hospitals to receive local care close to home.
