With the sweet smell of independence in the air The County will be busting out tractor pulls, parades, BBQs, Beer Gardens, 5k runs, and all types of activities for the kiddos. The two big contenders are Limestone and Houlton with their all day events and evening fireworks. They both have handy calendars of events on their websites, here are the links:

Limestone will have a parade at 1:00pm on Main Street with nearly 100 entries! After the parade, downtown Limestone will start hopping with tunes, food and a beer garden. Laser tag and bouncy houses will be available to keep the kids busy. Elsewhere in Limestone during the day, there will be golf tournaments, antique farm equipment shows, community-wide yard sales, a puppet show, teddy bear picnic and scavenger hunt.

Fireworks in Limestone: 9:00pm, launched on the hill off the Grand Falls Road. (Rain Date is Friday 7/5).

Houlton's Agricultural Fair takes place during the 4th of July holiday at the Houlton Community Park. Their parade starts at 10:00am at the intersection of Main,
Military, Station, and Willard Streets. At the fairgrounds there will be games for the kids, rides, livestock shows, 4H shows, horse shows, demolition derby, truck pulls, mud runs, and antique tractor pulls.
