Around 5am today the Aroostook County Sheriff's Office responded to a single motor vehicle accident on Route 11 in T14 R6, just South of Soucy Hill.

A 2004 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by 19 year old Travis Caron of Fort Kent, went off the road and hit a large tree causing Travis to become pinned in the vehicle. Also in the vehicle was Travis' mother, 45 year old Linda Caron of Fort Kent.

In a separate vehicle at the time of the crash was Travis' Father, who immediately called 911. Eagle Lake Fire and Rescue, Ambulance Service Inc. out of Eagle Lake, Saucier’s Towing, Ashland Ambulance and the Ashland Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and assisted in the removal of Travis from the vehicle with the “Jaws of Life."

Travis and Linda were transported to the Northern Maine Medical Center. Both were in stable condition and being treated for their injuries as of noon time on Monday. The degree of injury to both occupants is unknown at this time. The vehicle was a total loss and was removed from the scene by Saucier’s towing. There are no charges pending and the accident is still under investigation at this time. We'll have more on this story as it becomes available.
