Janelle Monae and Ellen Degeneres have both confirmed gospel singer Kim Burrell will not appear in a previously scheduled segment on The Ellen Degeneres Show after Burrell's anti-gay rant appeared online.

Gossip Cop first reported on December 31 that Burrell, who sings a song called "I See a Victory" on the new Hidden Figures soundtrack, preached in a recent sermon for Houston's Love & Liberty Fellowship Church that gay men and women are sinners and "perverted," adding "I came to tell you about sin. That sin nature. That perverted homosexual spirit, and the spirit of delusion and confusion, it has deceived many men and women, and it’s caused us pain on the body of Christ."

Since then, Monae, who stars in Hidden Figures, has come out swinging against Burrell's hate speech on Instagram, noting "And today and tomorrow and the next day I will continue to stand with other like minded people who condemn any and all statements and actions that would seek to deny the basic humanity of our fellow brothers and sisters. We cannot sit Idly by nor will we speak silently when we are confronted with such violence against members of our community."

Monae also insisted to TMZ "I don't stand for any hate speech or anything that targets our brothers and sisters in a negative way."

Finally, earlier today (January 3), Burrell's cancellation was confirmed by the horse's mouth:
