About 37 thousand homes in Maine were still without electricity on the day after Christmas--and another 18 thousand in New Brunswick. Complicating efforts for utility crews  are  temperatures below zero and gusty winds in some places, which have brought down more tree limbs.

From 3 to 6 inches of snow is expected in hard hit Washington County Thursday and Thursday night, adding to the challenge for line crews reaching remote areas. Utilities in Maine and New Brunswick hope to get the power back for everybody by Saturday at the latest.
