On March 9, 2015, Collett was alleged to have beaten his wife in a moving vehicle during an argument. Prosecutors say he also assaulted the woman after the couple arrived home. A witness testified Collett also destroyed his wife's phone.

Collett spent four months in jail for violating a protection order before the trial. This month, on January 12th, he was stopped for speeding by Houlton police Officer William Janakis and was found to be in the car with his wife. He was charged with bail violation.

On Tuesday, Collett pleaded guilty to one charge of violating a protection order and two counts of violating conditions of release. Justice Hunter sentenced him to 15 months for the assault and six month sentences on the violation charges, with the time to be served concurrently.

Collett will be given credit for the four months already  served in jail.
