Homeless Man Receives $175K in Donations After He Returns Lost Engagement Ring
Until recently Billy Ray Harris was a homeless man living on the streets of Kansas City, Missouri. One day, Sarah Darling passed by Harris and gave him a few bucks, but she also dropped her diamond engagement ring.
He tracked down Darling and her fiance and gave them back the expensive piece of jewelry. Astonished, Darling and Bill Krejci, decided that they needed to pay it forward. Krejci set-up a donation page to raise money for Harris to hopefully get him off the streets.
Since the page went up more than 7,000 people have donated money to Harris - raising nearly $175K. But that’s not all. Harris’ younger sister, Robin Harris, has spent the last 16 years looking for her older brother. She was shocked to see him on TV, but wasn’t surprised by his act of kindness.
‘I told him I just couldn't believe he stayed homeless for so long when he knew he could come back. I would always give my brother a place to stay,’ said Robin Harris.
Harris is no longer homeless. He plans on buying an apartment and flying to Texas to spend some time with his family.
