Hockey Player/Singer Bob Bissonnette Dies in Northern New Brunswick Helicopter Crash

The co-owner of the Capitales de Quebec baseball team, was one of two people killed in a helicopter crash in northern New Brunswick on Sunday afternoon. Roberto "Bob" Bissonnette, who was also a Quebec singer and recording artist, was killed along with the chopper pilot, Frederick Decoste. 

The 35-year-old Bissonnette was a former minor league hockey player who turned to music after ending his hockey career. He also branched out to baseball ownership.

RCMP said the helicopter got tangled in power lines in the community of Flatlands, west of Campbellton along the Restigouche River. The aircraft hit an embankment and ended up in the water. Power was out to thousands in the area through Monday.

The Canada Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.

The team's president, Michel Laplante, was also injured in the crash but is expected to survive.

Bissonnette posted a photo of the trio to his Instagram account just prior to the crash.

The 35-year-old had been on the rise as a French-language singer.

He had released three albums since 2010 and was scheduled to start a Quebec tour this month
