Shortly before 11:00 p.m., Maine State Police attempted to stop a pickup in Smyrna for a motor vehicle violation but the driver sped off in an attempt to elude the officer, according to Sgt. Brian Harris.  The pursuit continued from Smyrna to Linneus and then to Oakfield.

State Police were able to conduct a vehicle immobilization of the pickup on the River Road in Oakfield and the truck went out of control, and became stuck in a snow bank, Harris said..

The driver of the pickup, 26-year-old Christian McDonald of Oakfield was arrested without further incident, and was charged with operating after revocation, violation of bail conditions, eluding an officer and driving to endanger.

McDonald was transported to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton and will appear in Houlton Superior Court.   Sgt. Harris said the investigation is ongoing and further charges are likely.

Sgt. Alan Bustard was assisted in the pursuit by Trooper Dennis Quint.
