A third man has been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged kidnapping of a 62-year-old man from Drummond, N.B.

The incident is alleged to have occurred on October 5, 2015. The victim made it to safety and suffered minor injuries that did not require medical attention.

On February 1, the RCMP in New Brunswick’s West District Crime Reduction Unit arrested a 40-year-old man in Grand Falls in connection with the kidnapping, said the RCMP.

On February 2, François Dubé, of Saint-André, appeared in Edmundston Provincial Court and was charged with uttering threats, pointing a firearm, kidnapping, and extortion. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on February 5 for a bail hearing, police said.

Two other men, 43-year-old Gilbert Thériault, of Drummond, and 37-year-old Parker Jacob Richards, of Halifax, are also charged in connection with the incident.

The investigation is ongoing and police continue to seek information from the public.
