Governor LePage – Maine’s Unemployment Rate Drops And Lower Than The National Average

Maine's unemployment rate for December 2017 went down to 3 %. That is nearly a whole percent lower than December 2016.

According to Governor Paul LePage's Facebook page, the United States average is 4.1% -- meaning Maine is doing over 25% better than the national average.

The average for all of New England in the same month is 3.7% -- meaning Maine is better than the New England average.

Under Governor LePage the unemployment rate has been at or below 4.0 percent for 27 consecutive months.

According to LePage, Thousands of more people are working with real jobs, real paychecks this year and tens of thousands since the Governor took office.

The Maine Department of Labor says that the preliminary seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.0-percent in December 2017 was down 0.3 percentage points from November in the same year.

Governor LePage went on to write, "Simply put: having a businessman who had decades of experience creating jobs and balancing budgets has put Maine on the right course."

Governor LePage believes that Maine continues to be on the move and on the right track.
