The Aroostook County Sheriff's Office reports the 16-year-old driver from Amity was traveling north on Route 1 in a Toyota Camry shortly after 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. The car struck black ice near the Jackins Settlement Road intersection, causing the driver to lose control.

The car went off the road, rolled over and caught on fire, according to Chief Deputy Sheriff Darrell Crandall. The girl was able to get out of the car and walk to a nearby residence to call for help.

Sheriff's Deputies responded to investigate the crash, and members of the Hodgdon Fire Department extinguished the flames.  The vehicle, which ended up upside down in a brook was considered a total loss.

Crandall said the girl sustained only minor injuries.
