Despite an increase at the national level in gas prices, prices at the pump here in Maine have declined a little.

Prices here in the Pine Tree State have fallen off a little more than two cents, averaging $2.30 a gallon.

According to the Associated Press, the website GasBuddy.com's daily survey of 1,228 gas outlets in Maine says the state's average differs from the national trend. Nationwide, the price of gas went up a half a penny in the last week to $2.28.

AP reports gas prices in Maine were more than 50 cents higher on Sunday than they were a year ago, but have dipped 7.5 cents from a month ago.

Here in Presque Isle, prices at most pumps were $2.43 a gallon.
