Remember when the first photo of Bryan Cranston as Lyndon B. Johnson hit the internet and no one could believe it was actually a photo of the Breaking Bad star and not the former U.S. president? This is like that.

Gary Oldman will be the latest actor to take on Winston Churchill in
Darkest Hour. We finally have our first look at him in costume, and he’s completely unrecognizable. Good luck trying to find the English actor under all that makeup:

Harry Potter lately, so Oldman’s facial features are pretty fresh in my mind).
Darkest Hour will follow the Prime Minster when he chose to fight back against the Nazi’s and refuse to make peace with Germany. Here’s the full synopsis from Focus Features:

Within days of becoming Prime Minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill must face one of his most turbulent and defining trials: exploring a negotiated peace treaty with Nazi Germany, or standing firm to fight for the ideals, liberty and freedom of a nation. As the unstoppable Nazi forces roll across Western Europe and the threat of invasion is imminent, and with an unprepared public, a skeptical King, and his own party plotting against him, Churchill must withstand his darkest hour, rally a nation, and attempt to change the course of world history.

The film will also star John Hurt as Neville Chamberlain, who held office before Churchill, Ben Mendelsohn and King James VI, Lily James as Churchill’s secretary Elizabeth Nel, and Kristin Scott Thomas as Churchill’s wife Clementine. The Theory of Everything scribe Anthony McCarten wrote the script and produced the film. Darkest Hour hits U.K. theaters on December 29, 2017, but arrives in the U.S. on November 24, 2017.
