Future is the latest superstar act confirmed to hit the stage at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards, airing this Sunday, August 26.

MTV confirmed the news in a tweet today (August 22): "💥 @1future is preparing to bring down the house with his first ever @VMAs performance at the 2016 #VMAs on 8/28!"

"My creativity comes from being in the studio, my past situations...it's about mastering the tone for me. It's about master the melody. It's about mastering the style. It's about becoming one with the beat...my music is a diary. It carries volumes," he says in a teaser.

The EVOL rapper joins Britney Spears, Nick Jonas and this year's Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award recipient Rihanna as confirmed performers for the evening.
