The 160th Northern Maine Fair kicked off Friday runs through August 2nd.  As always, the fair is packed full of exhibits, games, rides, harness racing, shows, live music, food and fun. It's all going on at the fairgrounds in Presque Isle.  Download the 2014 Fair Schedule.

The Loring Military Heritage Center is having an Open House this weekend observing the 20th Anniversary of the closing of Loring Air Force Base.  Hours are 5-8 p.m. Friday, Saturday 8-4 and  Sunday 8-3.  Saturday  features a car show. A BBQ from 10-2. Forest service demonstration, Angel Flight, Arch Hanger open, P15 fire truck . Sunday includes a driving tour of the weapons storage area. Lots of knowledgeable people on hand.  All are welcome.

Join the Presque Isle Historical Society for a guided walking tour of historic downtown Presque Isle Saturday from 10-noon.  The tour covers two miles and begins and ends at 16 Third Street in front of the 1875 Vera Estey House Museum.  Free on-street parking is available.  Suggested donation for the tour is $2 per person.   For more information, please call 762-1151.

Enjoy a Gospel Concert by the Freddy Clark Family Saturday from 4- 6 p.m. at the Sargent-Tweedie Bandstand in Mars Hill (next to the Fire Station).

Sunday July 27

The Maine Time Trial Series will take place in Presque Isle on Sunday.  It's open to all road cyclists looking to race the clock. Registration is at 11 a.m. at MOJO. Race starts at 1 p.m. It's an open 14-mile course. Racers ride with traffic and are solely responsible for safety at all times. Helmet required. Fee: $20 in advance ($25 day of race).  For more info, call Mark Fullen at 760-9500.

The United Vets Motorcycle Club will be hosting  their Annual Teddy Bear Run through Aroostook county on Sunday, collecting and delivering teddy bears to area hospitals to bring comfort to hurting children. All bikers are welcome. Riders will be meeting at the American Legion on Bangor Street in Houlton at 10 a.m. Kickstands up at 11 a.m. sharp. For more info., call 538-9403.

The Fort Fairfield Knights of Columbus will host a hamburger and hotdog luncheon on Sunday from noon until 2,  at their council hall on Main Street. The menu will include a hotdog or hamburger with french fries or onion rings, punch, coffee or tea, and dessert.  A donation of $5 per plate would be appreciated.

Sunday is the 25th Annual Open Farm Day across Maine.  A great family event.  Find the list of participating farms in Aroostook County here.
