Beauty and the Beast has had a handful of adaptations, from both live-action and animation to the stage. But since filmmakers now have the ability to give the fairy tale a proper visual effects treatment, we’re getting two new live-action versions, and the trailer for one has arrived.

No, this isn’t the trailer for Disney‘s much-anticipated Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson (sorry to disappoint). But it is the trailer for the one starring Léa Seydoux and Vincent Cassel, and you can’t go wrong with those two actors onscreen together. This French-German production of the film looks like a much darker version of the Disney-fied tale, and dare I say, sexier? There’s romantic tension and heartbreak and lots of intense glances, courtesy of Cassel. There is a ton of CG in the trailer, perhaps too much, but it looks much more mature and gloomy than the visual effects we’ll likely get from Disney’s version, which could provide an interesting contrast.

Directed by Christophe Gans (Silent Hill), the film already opened in France in 2014 to mixed reviews. It opens in the U.S. on September 23.
