Three men and one woman have been charged following an alleged assault and forcible confinement that occurred at a Pennfield, N.B. residence earlier this week.

West District RCMP say the violent incident took place sometime between the evening of September 28 and the early morning hours of September 29. The following day, police executed a search warrant at the residence and arrested four suspects.

The 21-year-old victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated in hospital and released.

One of the suspects is from Utopia, N.B., the other three are from Pennfield, according to a press release from the RCMP. The four, who appeared in Saint John Provincial Court on Thursday, were identified as 32-year-old Jeremy Watson, 32-year-old Christina Comeau, 45-year-old Eric Richard, and 43-year-old Morton Cooke.

Each was charged with assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement and uttering threats. Jeremy Comeau and Christina Watson were also charged with mischief over $5,000.

All four suspects remain in custody and are scheduled to return to court on Monday.

The investigation is continuing.
