The recently formed Fort Fairfield Farmers’ Market Association opens its first market season on Wednesday, May 18th, from 2 - 6 pm in downtown Fort Fairfield. Officials say the newest Aroostook County farmer’s market has received great community interest and support from local businesses and citizens.

Fort Fairfield Farmers' Market volunteer coordinator Lori Risner says The Fort Fairfield Chamber of Commerce and Pines Health Services are sponsoring the market, which is located on a town-owned lot between Katahdin Trust Company's Fort Fairfield Branch and Acadia Medical Supply. The market will be open every Wednesday between mid-May and October, rain or shine. Signs will be posted at the intersection of Presque Isle and Main Streets directing to the downtown lot.

Risner says the mid-week market will have local pork products, eggs, seasonal vegetables, herbs, flowers, bedding plants, fresh bread and baked goods, handmade jewelry, packaged and fresh brewed coffee from ten vendors.

Risner invites food shoppers every Wednesday afternoon in downtown Fort Fairfield to support local small farmers and vendors. She says shopping local keeps your dollars local.

FFFMA is looking for additional interested farmers and arts and crafts vendors with locally grown, produced and handcrafted items to join their ranks. Full membership is $50 for the entire season. Interested vendors can contact Deena Albert Parks, 615-4144 or Kate Schupbach 472-6009, Market Managers or send an email to fortsfarmersmarket@gmail.com for more information.
