Fog Causes Cross Lake Crash

Just before 8:00 a.m. on Thursday morning the Sheriff’s Office sent Deputy Sheriff Corey Saucier to a report of a single vehicle crash in Cross Lake.

Deputy Saucier determined that Joseph Daigle, 80, of Sinclair was traveling west on Route 162, and failed to stop at the stop sign where Route 162 meets Route 161. The fog was heavy and Mr. Daigle said he was unable see the sign, which he believed to be further up the road.

As a result, Mr. Daigle crossed Route 161 and drove his 2003 Chevy pickup into the woods striking several trees.

Fortunately, there was no traffic at that spot on Route 161 at that moment. Mr. Daigle was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured. The vehicle was towed from the scene due to disabling front end damage.
