The Caribou Fire Department responded to the fire on Washburn Street around 9 p.m.    According to Caribou Fire Chief Scott Susi, a passing motorist called to report the fire after spotting flames and smoke coming from the two-story florist shop.

More than 50 firefighters from Caribou, Washburn, Fort Fairfield and Limestone worked in subzero temperatures to bring the intense blaze under control.  The Presque Isle Fire Department provided mutual aid at the Caribou station. There were no injuries. Firefighters remained on scene until about 1 a.m. Friday.
