Fire at the Millville Fire Station is Deemed Arson

An investigation by the New Brunswick Fire Marshall's office has concluded that the fire that destroyed the Millville fire station and village office was deliberately set.

The blaze, which started early Monday morning, gutted the building and destroyed two fire trucks and nearly all the department's firefighting equipment.

Millville Fire Chief Justin McGuigan posted a notice Wednesday on the Millville Volunteer Fire Department's website, thanking the community and other fire departments for their support.

Following the fire, Millville received vehicles on loan from the Woodstock and Oromocto Fire Departments, and the Grand Falls Fire Department sold them an SUV for $1.00. They have also been given equipment on loan from the Oromocto, Woodstock, New Maryland, Kingsclear First Nation, Keswick Ridge, and Keswick Valley Fire Departments.

McGuigan assured residents that the Millville Fire Department is prepared and equipped to continue fulfilling their committed services to the community. The station is temporarily set up in the DOT Depot in Millville.

The Keswick RCMP is leading the criminal investigation in the arson case. Anyone with information related to the Millville fire is asked to contact the RCMP or New Brunswick Crime Stoppers.
