A federal government shutdown could close Maine's Acadia National Park when tourists generally flock to the park to enjoy the scenery during fall foliage season.

It would be the second time this year that congressional wrangling in Washington would put a hitch in tourism.  Acadia Park officials opened the Park Loop Road in May, a month later than usual because of a series of automatic federal spending cuts.

Acadia National Park Deputy Superintendent Len Bobinchock says that his staff is making a contingency plan in case Congress fails to pass a temporary budget bill to keep federal programs running on October 1st and beyond.
