Evidence of Meth Making Found in Dumpster at Easton Business

Police say employees of a business on Main Street in Easton found what turned out to be the remnants of a methamphetamine lab in their dumpster Monday afternoon.

A water bottle was removed from the dumpster as a returnable before employees became suspicious and called police.  Aroostook County Sheriff's Deputies responded and confirmed it was a "reaction" bottle used in making meth, according to information released Monday night.

Plastic bottles are used in the "shake and bake" method of manufacturing methamphetamine.  The process is quick but extremely dangerous.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Department of Environmental Protection were called in to dispose of the hazardous materials in accordance with OSHA regulations.

The Sheriff's Office is urging people not to handle items they suspect may have been used to make meth.
