The Equifax data breach may have affected 143 million accounts by stealing names, birth dates, social security numbers, addresses and even driver's license numbers. Have you checked to see if your account is in jeopardy? According to WMTW, it's super easy to find out. Go to equifaxsecurity2017.com to see if you have been hacked. I did it myself and it took about 40 seconds. Equifax also suggests signing up for identity theft protection and credit monitoring. To add insult to injury, the FTC is also sending out warnings of phone scammers pretending to call on behalf of Equifax to "verify your information". It is NOT Equifax on the phone so hang up! While living during a time of cybercriminals and phone scammers, it's good to check your credit report to make sure there are no unauthorized transactions going on. AnnualCreditReport.com will provide you with a free credit report once a year. You can also get one by calling 877-322-8228.
