The Fishing Derby is part of their sponsorship of the 'Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs' program. If you're a kid under the age of 16 and can hold a fishing pole then stop by the park any time from 8:00am - Noon.

There will be special prizes awarded for the first fish caught during the derby, the longest fish, and the youngest successful angler. The first 250 youth to register will all receive an outdoor activity prize.

According to Presque Isle Elks Exalted Ruler Vicki DeLong, "The Hooked on Fishing-Not on Drugs program provides an introduction for youth to the healthy, alternative activity of fishing."

The Elks will have extra rods, tackle, and bait on hand for those who don't have any. Along with spare gear the Elks will provide a lunch of hot dogs, potato chips, soda, and ice cream to all participants and adult supervisors.

The adults supervising their kids even have a chance at winning a weekend stay at Camp Macannamac at Haymock Lake in the Allagash Lakes Region. Other prizes include a year-long pass from the North Maine Woods Association.
