The Presque Isle Police Department says that Oran "Junior" Holmes was taken to a Bangor hospital following Saturday's crash at the intersection of Dudley and Cedar streets.

Police said Holmes was northbound on Dudley Street in his 1995 Chevy Lumina around 10 a.m. when he apparently failed to stop at a stop sign. He was struck by a 2014 Honda Accord driven by 35-year-old Tina Cowett of Mapleton, who was headed east on Cedar Street.

Cowett was taken to The Aroostook Medical Center with minor injuries, treated and released. Holmes, who was not wearing a seat belt, was transported by Crown Ambulance to Eastern Maine Medical in Bangor, where he died on Monday.

Presque Isle police say this was the second fatal crash at that intersection in recent years, and there have been several others involving injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by PIPD Officer Kyle White and Maine State Police Trooper Rob Flynn.
