Bath Fire Chief Stephen Armour said the call came in at 5:50 a.m. Smoke was billowing out from under the eaves when crews arrived at the home on the Doherty Road.

About 25 firefighters from the Bath and Florenceville-Bristol Fire Departments worked together to bring the fire under control.  Armour said extremely cold temperatures and strong winds made it difficult to battle the blaze.

No one was injured. The fire chief said the Canadian Red Cross was providing assistance to the three people who lived in the home - a retired couple and elderly mother.
