The Washington County Sheriff's Office said that 60-year-old Daniel McNinch of Monticello was hauling a load of concrete to a home construction site around 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

McNinch apparently pulled the truck to the edge of the Greenland Cove Road to allow a car to pass.  Police said the concrete likely shifted, causing the truck to tip over onto the driver’s side.

Danforth Emergency responders had to cut down trees to get to the truck and then used hydraulic  tools to free McNinch.  He was taken to Houlton Regional Hospital for treatment of numerous facial injuries.

The concrete truck is owned by Steelstone Industries, based in Houlton.  Police said a crane was being brought in to remove the wreckage.

The crash site was near Grand Lake, on the outskirts of Danforth.
