A neighbor, Todd Duncan, who witnessed the crash called 9-1-1.  He said the driver was unconscious and bleeding when he rushed to his aid.  The driver was not wearing a helmet and suffered broken bones to his face.

Maine State Police Trooper Jeffrey Clark, members of the Mapleton Fire Department, and Aroostook County Sheriff's Deputy Mitchell Wheeler responded to the accident.

Trooper Clark said the man started to become responsive as emergency personnel attended to him. The victim, who was identified as 54-year-old Robert Rossignol of Presque Isle, was taken by Crown Ambulance to the Aroostook Medical Center.  Rossignol was listed in stable condition Monday afternoon.
