Award season is in full swing, which means that the year's best albums and artists continue to be recognized for their work. The 2016 Soul Train Awards nominees were released on Thursday (Oct. 13) and leading the pack once more is Drake, who has secured a dozen nominations including nods for his 2016 album, Views. Beyonce finishes second with eight nominations.

Kanye West is likewise recognized for his influential album, The Life of Pablo, which competes in the Album/Mixtape of the Year category against Drake's Views, Beyonce's Lemonade, Bryson Tiller's Trapsoul, DJ Khaled's Major Key and Rihanna's Anti.

Chance The Rapper scores a nod in the Best New Artist category, going up against 2016 XXL Freshman Anderson .Paak, singers Andra Day, Bryson Tiller and Ro James and rapper Tory Lanez.
