DOJ Gives Penobscot Tribe Nearly $100K
A Maine American Indian tribe will receive nearly $100,000 in federal grants to support tribal law enforcement.
The grant is part of the Coordinated Tribal Assistance Solicitation Grant Program. The program allows federally recognized tribes to more efficiently apply for tribal grant programs.
Officials say the money can be used to hire or re-hire law enforcement officers, buy equipment or help with training to improve local police work.
