A pre-dawn fire gutted a mobile home in Richmond, New Brunswick Monday. Two visiting grandchildren and two adults were able to get out of the home.

The family says the dog barking alerted them to the fire which started around 5:30 am Monday at their residence at 644 Highway 555.

The two five-year-old grandchildren and the two adults were provided emergency essentials such as lodging, meals and clothing.

The adult male experienced medical distress believed to be related to smoke inhalation, said the Canadian Red Cross office in Woodstock. An ambulance took him to the hospital for treatment.
