The structure was home to Star City rec programs for over 70 years.

The building and the property were purchased by the owner of Carroll's Auto Sales, Kirk Carroll. The auto dealership is next door to the Haskell Rec Center building. Once torn down, the lot will be used for expansion of the auto dealer.

The building was named after the city's first director of the recreation department, William Haskell in 1946.
