The Mount Katahdin Scenic Overlook on I-95 gives you a beautiful view of Maine’s highest mountain. It’s a quick stop as you head North in Medway. Add it to your County Bucket List - you and your family will remember it for a lifetime.

The Overlook is best on a clear day. You can see for miles across the Salmon Stream Lake. Katahdin is the highest peak in Maine and a feature attraction at Baxter State Park. The name means “Great Mountain.” It’s just under a mile high at 5,267 feet.

There’s also a lot of history at the Mount Katahdin Scenic Overlook. The plaque commemorating 'Maine Highway Pioneer, Allie Cole' takes you back to before the roads were completely plowed. It reminds us how some parts of Maine were cut off in the winter and not accessible to other parts of the state.

Put the Mount Katahdin Scenic Overlook on your County Bucket List. It’s open May thru October. You can’t miss it - just up the road from the Medway rest area.
