Former University of Maine football coach Jack Cosgrove will receive the George C. Carens Award for his lifetime contributions to football in the New England region.

Cosgrove, who has the distinction of the most coaching wins in UMaine football history with 129, left the sidelines after the 2015 season.  He will be honored at an awards banquet held by the New England Football Writer's Association on December 8th in Stoneham, Massachusetts.

He began his collegiate football career as the quarterback for UMaine, and then followed that with stints as and assistant coach and coordinator with the Black Bears before receiving the head coaching job in 1993.

Cosgrove will become the third Black Bear to receive the award as George Hale and Jack Bicknell have also been honored.
