Comrades Win State Tourney Opener 6-1

Coffee News(Bangor) got strong pitching from Trevor Delaite along with timely hitting to beat Bessey Motors 6-1 in the opening game of the American Legion state tournament.

Delaite gave up just five hits and struck out eight, outdueling Bessey ace Riley Chickering.

Bangor scored two runs in the first inning, added two more in the sixth and then added two insurance runs in the ninth.

The win sets the Comrades up with a winner's bracket game Thursday at 3pm against Staples Crossing.
