I remember as a child, every year on Christmas Eve my family would go to church, attend a Christmas party with my extended family, and then, the best part… we got to open one gift from under the Christmas tree. My mother always made sure it one of the smaller packages that was under the tree.

Now that I’m grown and have a child of my own, I look forward to starting new traditions with my husband and daughter each year.

I’ve come up with several traditions that you can do easily with your family on Christmas Eve. Here goes:

  • Read “The Night Before Christmas” at bedtime.
  • Open one gift on Christmas Eve.
  • Track Santa’s progress across the globe on NORAD.
  • Leave milk and cookies for Santa and leave carrots for the reindeer.
  • Get matching pajamas for the kids to wear on Christmas Eve. Talk about a great photo op Christmas morning!

I’m sure there are many more Christmas Eve traditions out there. What are some that you enjoy?

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas Eve and really take in this magical time of year!
