Chloe Moretz Admits She Really Wanted Plastic Surgery When She Was Sixteen
Self-proclaimed feminist and actress Chloe Grace Moretz has long been an advocate for natural beauty and (her perception of) self-respect. Just take a peek at her back-and-forth with Kim Kardashian back in March, when the two went tweet-for-tweet about the reality star posting nude photos of herself online.
"I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than just our bodies," Chloe tweeted to the fashion-media mogul on March 7. Now, thanks to a new interview with Elle, her words suddenly make so much more sense.
Speaking candidly with the magazine, the 19-year-old Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising star revealed that at the tender age of 16, she was so insecure with her natural appearance that she desperately wanted plastic surgery.
"When I was 16, I wanted a boob job," Chloe shared. "I wanted the fat pad under my chin to be removed. I wanted a butt reduction, or whatever. And my mom said, 'Absolutely not, you're not allowed to have plastic surgery.'"
Thankfully, the young actress heeded her mother's advice: "And because of that, I found a lot of power within my insecurities. They're what make me who I am now."
Because of that revelation, these days Chloe, in all her unique beauty, is committed to spreading that message of self-love back to her fans — especially those who are young girls.
"I try to not post Instagrams where I Facetune my face and I wear a ton of makeup," she said. "I want to be as natural as can be. And I want to break it down for young women so they understand that you're not just 'born' like this. Yes, I have had hair extensions. Yes, the reason I have this body is because I work out seven times a week. Yes, I eat really clean... Sometimes you have to fight for and work for things, and be happy with who you are at the same time. And that's a really hard balance but I want to show it to young women."
That's what makes you beautiful, Chloe.
