Child Porn Arrest

State Police say a convicted sex offender was arrested Thursday and charged with possessing child pornography.   

Acting on a tip, members of the State Police Computer Crimes Unit and the US Homeland Security conducted a search Thursday of 59 year old David Cook’s home at 218 South Horseback Road in Burnham.  An initial search of Cook’s computer showed images of child porn and he was arrested and charged with possessing sexually explicit material.  Cook was taken to the Waldo County Jail.  His computer was seized and will be examined more thoroughly by computer crime lab personnel. 

Cook was convicted in 1990 of rape and gross sexual misconduct of someone under the age of 14 and sentenced to six years in prison. Cook is also required to register for the rest of his life with the Maine Sex Offender Registry.
