State Police, working with the Biddeford Police, charged a New York man Friday morning with the shooting death of a Biddeford man this week.

Detectives charged, Timothy Ortiz, 20-years-old from Brooklyn, with murder in the shooting death of 30-year-old Jonathan Methot of Biddeford, police said.

Methot was shot inside an apartment house on West Cutts Street in Biddeford, early Monday morning.

Ortiz will make face his first court appearance on the murder charge Monday in York County Superior Court in Alfred .

Ortiz has been held since last Monday at the Cumberland County Jail on a New York probation violation, unrelated to the shooting. He is on probation for aggravated sex trafficking and a drug charge, and was arrested on the probation violation in Portland Monday afternoon, said police.

He made a court appearance on that probation violation this morning and was charged by detectives with murder.

Ortiz is expected to be transferred today to the York County Jail in Alfred.
