Celebrating National French Fry Day in Florenceville-Bristol [PHOTOS]

Over 3000 people gathered at Potato World Museum in Florenceville-Bristol on Thursday to celebrate National French Fry Day in the “French Fry Capital of the World.”

About 1,200 pounds of crispy, golden, McCain French Fries were cooked and given out free to French fry fans. The Hon. Andrew Harvey was declared winner in “Battle of the Mayors” French fry cutting championships, with 11.6 kg of fries cut in 90 seconds.

Canada’s Got Talent finalist Ivan Daigle and Warren Butland of Dirt County Confederates provided toe-tapping music from the main stage. Florenceville-Bristol’s Outdoor Summer Market was moved to Potato World for the event, featuring a lineup of tasty foods, arts, crafts, produce, and other great items for sale.

Local 4-H Club members were on-hand offering people a chance to plant their own seed potatoes to take home. Children enjoyed inflatables, face painting, balloon tying, potato printing, button making, a prize wheel, and people of all ages enjoyed free museum tours, a professional photo booth, interactive experiments by Science East Traveling Exhibit and the St. John River Wolastoq Brigade showcased two Western Canada voyageur canoes.
