A 54-year-old man from Caribou was sentenced to more than 13 years for drug trafficking in Aroostook County and Penobscot County.

Maine Man Sentenced to 165 Months for Drug Trafficking

James King received a sentence of 165 months. He was charged for his role in a conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Five Years of Supervised Release

King will also have five years of supervised release. He entered a guilty plea on September 25, 2023.

Conspiracy to Distribute Meth and Fentanyl

King and his co-conspirators trafficked meth and fentanyl in Aroostook and Penobscot Counties. He “knowingly and intentionally joined and participated in the conspiracy,” said court records.

“Aroostook County Distributor”

King was the “Aroostook County distributor” and regularly obtained quantities of drugs from his source in the Bangor area. Other people involved would distribute the narcotics to dealers who would sell it to customers.

Tenth Defendant to be Sentenced

He is the 10th of 21 defendants who have been charged and sentenced. Seven other defendants have also pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing.
