A building on Aberdeen Street in Campbellton, N.B.  was evacuated as a precaution Wednesday morning after the discovery of a suspicious package.

Campbellton RCMP responded to a call at the building, which houses the Centennial Library and several offices, at 9:30 a.m.  Constable Jullie Rogers-Marsh said the envelope contained a powdery substance. The RCMP evacuated the building as a safety precaution and the woman who opened the package was quarantined until it was determined that the powder was not dangerous. She was not injured.  Police allowed access to the building again at around 6:00 p.m. Wednesday.  Local roads remained open and police said there was no danger to those living in the area.
