Byron Named Hockey East ‘Player Of The Week’

University of Maine senior captain Blaine Byron was named the Hockey East Warrior Player of the Week after notching a hat trick in the Black Bears' 5-2 over UMass-Lowell this past Friday night.

Byron scored just 37 seconds into the contest with the #5 ranked River Hawks on Friday, and would later tally two more to achieve the hat trick.  Maine would split the weekend series versus UML after falling to the Hawks on Sunday afternoon.  The forward has six goals on the season and 12 total points for the Bears.

Maine is 4-6-2 on the year and 1-3-0 in Hockey East play.  The Black Bears will face Vermont on the road for two games this weekend.
