The Boston Bruins scored three goals in the first nine minutes of the game. They led 4-1 after one period. And then they lost to the Detroit Red Wins 6-5 in a shootout.

And so it goes for the Boston Bruins these days. Finding new ways to lose every time they hit the ice.

After the early lead, it was former UMaine Black Bear Gustav Nyquist who scored the goal to tie the game at 5-5.

No one scored in overtime and so it was on to the shootout.

Thomas Vanek and Frans Nielsen scored goals. The B's could manage just one.

Boston falls to 23-19-6.
