The Boston Bruins were unable to start off the 2017 calendar year with a win, as they dropped a road contest against New Jersey 3-0.

The Bs surrendered a goal in the first five minutes of the contest when P.A. Parenteau notched his 11 score of the season.  Both sides failed to notch a tally in the second period, but New Jersey would score an insurance goal early in the third and an empty netter to seal the win.

Tuukka Rask got the start for the Bs and made 23 saves in net while being charged for two of the goals.  With the loss Boston is now 20-16-4 on the season and will return home to face the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night.  The Bs have the second most points in the division behind Montreal with 44 overall in 40 games.
