The path for an unsigned artist is long and often full of perils, but it can be every bit as fruitful as a major label player if you play your cards right — like, say, booking the stage of The Graham Norton Show.

With the help of hard work, dedication, solid '80s and '90s-inspired pop tunes and some friends in high places, Rod Thomas — better known as Bright Light Bright Light — successfully kicked off his latest album campaign with a high-profile TV performance in the UK of his joyous new single "All In The Name" alongside good friend, collaborator and touring partner, Sir Elton John.

Ahead of the release of his forthcoming film-inspired album, Choreography — due out on July 15 and boasting a bevy of features, including the legendary Alan Cumming and Scissor Sisters members Ana Matronic, Del Marquis and Jake Shears — Bright Light Bright Light returns today with a new cut from the LP: "Little Bit."

It is, as Mariah Carey would likely agree, a moment, dahhling.

"If you follow my Twitter, you probably notice I like being a bit over the top," Rod explains to PopCrush.

"For this track I wanted to write something very dramatic that channels the kind of "moment" characters have in films where they have their big emotional reveal, or they finally "get it"...a bit like at the end of The NeverEnding Story, where the world is being ripped apart and Bastian finally calls out the Empress' name."

True to his explanation, "Little Bit" is a sweeping rush of nostalgia-inducing emotion that sounds as though it was plucked straight from the soundtrack of a cult favorite '80s rom-com, full of Pet Shop Boys-esque synths, romantic sax and one purely cathartic cry of a chorus.

"Looking for a way to say I love you, I love you, I love you... / It's not the same as all the others at your door / 'cause I love you, I love you, just a little bit more..."

It's the perfect track to queue up on your phone just before you realize that you're actually madly in love with your best friend and decide to rush to the airport to stop them from boarding that one-way flight to Paris for art school. If I had a dollar for every time that happened...
